Study in Germany from Kenya: low or no tuition at public universities, English-taught degrees at private universities, and up to 18 months after graduating to find work.

Germany is one of the most affordable places in Europe for Kenyan students. Public universities charge little or no tuition, usually just a semester contribution, while private universities such as IU, SRH, Gisma, XU and EU Business School teach in English for about €5,000 to €20,000 a year. Every student must show living funds of €11,904 a year (€992 a month) in a blocked account before applying for the visa.

Entry after KCSE: public universities usually need an extra year of study first, through a Studienkolleg foundation course or a year at a recognised university. Private universities accept KCSE with a foundation programme. A Levels and the IB Diploma give direct entry to most programmes.

Intakes: winter semester (October) and summer semester (April). Private universities have more start dates.

Work: students can work 140 full days or 280 half days a year, and graduates have up to 18 months to find a job.

MultiWorld International helps Kenyan students choose a course, apply, open the blocked account and prepare the national (D) visa application at the German Embassy in Nairobi.
