Study in Switzerland from Kenya: world-famous hospitality and business schools taught in English, with paid internships and six months after graduating to look for a job.

Most Kenyan students in Switzerland choose private hospitality and business schools, such as our partners HTMi Switzerland and EU Business School (Geneva and Montreux). These programmes often cost CHF 30,000 or more a year but usually include paid internships. Public universities charge low fees, about CHF 500 to 8,000 a year, but have strict entry requirements and rarely accept KCSE alone.

Visa: you apply for a national (D) visa at the Swiss Embassy in Nairobi. Plan to show about CHF 21,000 a year for living costs (some cantons ask for more), health insurance and accommodation. Processing often takes 8 to 12 weeks.

Entry after KCSE: hospitality and business schools accept KCSE, sometimes with a foundation or preparatory semester. A Levels, the IB and diplomas also give entry.

Intakes: September and February, with more start dates at hospitality schools.

Work and after study: students can work up to 15 hours a week, starting six months after the course begins, and full time in holidays. Graduates can stay up to six months to look for a job.
