International Curriculum Students in Kenya: IGCSE, A Level and IB Study Abroad Guide

Kenya has a growing number of students completing IGCSE, Cambridge or Pearson A Levels and the International Baccalaureate. These qualifications can open international university routes, but a strong application still depends on subject choice, predicted and final results, timing and course-specific requirements.

Plan subject choices around future degrees

University requirements often begin with subjects, not only overall grades. Students considering engineering, computer science, medicine, architecture, economics or other specialist fields should check required subjects early. A strong grade profile may not compensate for a missing compulsory subject.

Moving from IGCSE to university entry

IGCSE usually forms the foundation for further study. The common next step is A Levels, the IB Diploma or a recognised university foundation programme. Choose the route by considering the intended degree, learning style, destination and the universities that recognise the pathway.

Using predicted grades

Scholarship rules may use overall grades, subject results, leadership, service, creative work or financial need. Check whether an award is automatic or needs a separate application, whether it is renewable and what costs remain after the award.

Track school deadlines, university deadlines, scholarship deadlines, portfolio or admissions-test dates, final-result release dates, deposit dates and visa preparation separately. Starting early gives time to correct documents and compare offers responsibly.
