Study Abroad Entry Requirements for Kenyan Students (2027 Guide)

Short answer: Kenyan students can apply to study abroad after KCSE, IGCSE, A Levels, the IB Diploma, a diploma or a bachelor's degree. The right route depends on your qualification, subject grades, English level and the university: after KCSE it is usually a foundation year, diploma or college programme; A Levels and the IB often give direct entry; graduates apply for master's or pre-master's programmes.

Is English always required?

Almost every university checks your English. Many accept IELTS, PTE, TOEFL or Duolingo, and some accept a strong KCSE, IGCSE or IB English grade. See study abroad without IELTS.

Degrees from recognised universities are generally recognised, but check with the Commission for University Education before you apply, and with the relevant professional body for regulated careers such as medicine, nursing, law and engineering.
